After the French revolution, the ideas of freedom and equality were debated in Europe during the 19th century.
three groups of people: liberals, radicals and conservatives, wanted changes in society, but in different ways. While the radicals wanted major changes including universal adult franchise, the liberals opposed dynastic rule but did not believe in giving votes to women. The conservatives wanted gradual changes while respecting the past.
