• Harappan Civilization is also known as "Indus Valley Civilization".

• As, this civilization flourished along the banks of Indus river hence, it is named after Indus.

• Harapppan Civilization flourished from 2500BC - 1800BC.

• The first place where this civilization was excavated was Harappa.

• Hence, it is named as the Harapppan civilization.

• The excavations in this civilization were conducted by Archaeological survey of India.

• Sir Marshall was the chairman of this survey which conducted the excavations.

• Important cities in this civilization were Lothal, Mohenjadaro, Ropar, etc.

• Harapppan people produced wheat, barely, peas, rice, etc.

• Godess of Earth and Pashupati Mahadeva were the important deities of Harappans.
