  • Any crime or violation of law has a specific punishment and process through which the guilt or we can say punishment of the person has to be established.

In ancient India punishment received by the person depended on their caste . for understanding it let's take an example , think that two person had done a crime one is of upper caste and another one is of lower castes so the person of lower caste will be given higher punishment than the person of upper caste on the same crime .

  • Indian judges began to play a greater role in making decision. Thus Indians played a major role in evolution of rules of law in colonial period.
