Explanation:

When a body is immersed in a liquid then and upward force acts on it in upward direction is called upthrust.

Factors Affecting Upthrust is:

1) Volume of body.

2) Density of a fluid.

3) The center of gravity of the Displaced fluid.

Unit of Upthrust is Newton or kgf.

Definition➠

  • Upthrust is the force acted on the body in upward direction when it is partially or fully submerged in fluids (Gas or liquids).
  • As it is a kind of force then its Unit is also same as force Newton or kgf.
  • Example:- When we enter in the swimming pool we feel weight loss in our own body and the force which is behind this fact is Bouyant force or Upthrust.

Factors affecting Upthrust➾

  1. Volume of the Body Which is submerged in fluids.Upthrust is directly proportional to Volume of body.
  2. Density of Fluids in which body emerged.fluids.Upthrust is directly proportional to density of Fluids also.
  3. Acceleration due to Gravity.

Formula of Upthrust:-

Upthrust ➛

volume of liquid displaced(Volume of Body) × density of liquid displaced × Acceleration due to Gravity.

Facts:-

Archimedes is known as the founder of Bouyant force or Upthrust he feel it while Bathing in tub.

He concluded three cases:-

  1. Body with higher density to fluid will completely sink in fluids.
  2. Body of equal density to Fluid will partially sink.
  3. Body with lesser density to Fluids will float on it.
