Compassion or forgiveness shown toward someone. Showing someone grace because you can be the bigger person. That does not make you a better person, however. It simply means you are a caring person and do not want to cause someone pain just because she/he may have. The central idea of mercy is kindness and love. Not to prove anything, or else it wouldn't be sincere. Sympathy is-in my book- a very important quality because it shows how you can treat others even when you are in pain, or whatever you're going though. It shows your sensitivity and humanity.

This poem is composed by William Shakespeare This poem is a strong appeal of mercy. It is a divine quality which is spontaneous. It cannot be forced. It works like balm and gently soothes the disturbed mind like the drizzling rain in summers after the scorching heat. It is a quality of God Himself and the one who possesses it, is respected , loved and worshipped more than the one who has all the glamours of earthly power like crown and sceptre. It blesses both the giver and the receiver. The earthy power becomes Godlike when mercy is mixed with justice.
