the poem Father to Son describes a universal problem of generation gap which almost prevails in every house the elders of the family wants the children to act upon according to their wish but the children want to enjoy their freedom in life . the father expresses his grief that they both live under the same roof they share same house but have no conversation with each other .
they live like strangers and have nothing to talk .
