Wanda petroski was a polish girl who used to live in noggins height.she was so poor and only had a blue faded but clean dress to wear.and she was often humiliated my her classmates,expecially Peggy and her gang by asking how many dress she owns.she was heart broken at hearing such humiliation, nevertheless she was a bold kid.she would answe them that she had hundred dresses in her closet.At the end of the story she leaves the school and move to another place.

Maddy herself was poor and felt uncomfortable whenever Peggy used to tease Wanda.She used to wear clothes which was once used by peggy.she wanted to ask Peggy to stop teasing poor Wanda but wasn't able to do so.and on hearing Wanda has left the school,she felt so sorry for Wanda and for herself

Peggy was the most popular girl in the class.she was so beautiful and was also good at studies.she used to tease Wanda but it doesn't mean she is a cruel fellow.she used to protect the little children whenever they were bullied and she would cry whenever she saw someone harming an animal.
