Answer:

Explanation:

A Periodic Table is a collection of all known elements that exist in the nature. Most of the elements that are discovered till date are listed in the PT. Now, a modern time Periodic Table exhibits certain specific trends.

We call these are the periodic trends or characteristics of elements. The PT shows properties that are shared by elements within the Periods and Groups. These are the trends that include properties like IE (Ionization Energy), Electro-negativity, Atomic Radii, Chemical Reactivity, Electron Affinity, Ionic Radius, Metallic and non-metallic character etc.

With the change in the atomic structure, each of the properties that are mentioned above will also change for each element. So no two elements will have exactly same properties in the PT. the properties changes for each element as for their atomic structure along the Period.

Periods are Horizontal rows that you see on the PT. the Groups are the vertical columns that run from top to bottom.

Periods run from left to right or vice versa.

Following are certain properties of the Periods in the PT.

The IE (Ionization energy) of the elements increases as we move from left to right along the periods in the PT. elements with lowest IE are arranged on the left side of the PT while those with highest IE are on the Right side of the PT.

EA (Electron Affinity) also increases as we move from left to right along the Periods on the PT. Same here for elements with lowest are arranged on the left side while the ones with maximum EA are on the right side.

Atomic radius will  change as we move from right side of the PT to the left side. So while moving from right to left it increases. The metallic character will increase when moving from top right to low bottom left.

Within the Period, the electron shells for elements belonging to the same  period will remain same, as it does not change. Each element that follows the previous element  in the period will have an additional one number of proton.

EN (electro-negativity) – when moving from left to the right side on the PT for the elements, the EN factor will increase. Also the valency electron numbers will increase in the same pattern when moving from left to right side on the PT.
