characteristics: a low surface area to volume ratio, such as plants with thick, broad leaves as opposed to those with narrow, needle-like leaves.

There are a few characteristics of a shady tree. The plants that grow in shades have thinner foliage and has more surface area.

They have more chlorophylls than the leaves which receives full sun. these plants also thrive in low PH, organically rich soils.

The amount of shade a plant requires differs from plants to plants. Some grow in full shades where some others in partial shades.
