Hey there,

Follow me.

Coal properties have a major influence on the process and gasifier design; they include moisture, ash, volatile matter, and fixed carbon content, caking tendencies, reactivity, ash fusion characteristics, and particle size distribution. Coal is a sedimentary rock composed principally of two basic classes of materials: inorganic crystalline minerals and organic carbonaceous mackerels. The mackerels form the combustible part of the coal and are, in turn, divided into three mackerel groups—vitrinite, exinite (or liptinite), and inertinite.

Answer:

heya here is ur answer...........

Coal is a combustible black or brownish-black sedimentary rock, formed as rock strata called coal seams. Coal is mostly carbon with variable amounts of other elements; chiefly hydrogen, sulfur, oxygen, and nitrogen.

.Anthracite – contains between 86% and 98% carbon by weight and it burns in boilers slowly.

Bituminous – contains between 69% & 86% carbon by weight

Sub-bituminous – contains less carbon, more water and is a less efficient source of heat for boilers.

Lignite – contains up to 70% water by weight.
