Explanation:

Substitutional impurity defect is found in element having crystal based structure. In this kind of impurity,  the atom is often incorporated at a regular atomic site in the crystal structure. This means that the atom does not own a required place in the structure but it fits inside forcefully leading to a substitutional defect. Since the atom is not supposed to be in the crystal, so it is called an impurity.
