Give the construction and working of a simple dry cell?

A dry cell consists of a carbon rod which acts as the positive terminal(anode) which is surrounded by a thick paste of ammonium chloride mixed with graphite. The positive terminal is marked by a brass cap and the negative terminal is marked by zinc casing.
