Option 1 is correct

Displacement being a vector quantity can be zero by opposing the direction.

Whereas Distance being a scalar quantity may or may not be zero as distance will keep on adding up even if the direction is opposed

Both Assertion and Reason is correct.


★→ As displacement is a vector quantity it must have direction.

and if equal distance is covered in opposite direction... then net displacement is zero but distance travelled is scalar quantity it has nothing to do with direction...

★→ Also, if starting and end point of a body is same as in case of circle, displacement =0 , but distance travelled =2πr

so, your answer is option 2.

Reason is correct but it's not correct explanation of Assertion.
