Quite a lot actually. Shivaliks are mountains and Duars are flood plains.
Shivaliks are broadly the part of Himalayas still being formed. They are the innermost (from Indian south) part of the Himalayan arc still being uplifted due to ramming of the Indian plate in Eurasian continent. The are not as metamorphosed as the outer Himalayas (the crystalline part of Himalayas) but they are still compacted enough to have bold peaks.
