Answer ⇒ Dhanteras is the Festival celebrated by the Hindus in the Praise of Lord Dhanmantri.

Lord Dhanvantari is the god of Ayurveda who imparted the wisdom of Ayurveda for the betterment of mankind and to help rid it of the suffering of disease.

We used to buy the new materials on Dhanteras because it is considered as the good day for buying new materials.

Dhanteras is celebrated on the thirteenth lunar day of Krishna Paksha (dark fortnight) in the Vikram Samvat Hindu calendar month of Karthik.

It is celebrated before some days of Diwali.

• Dhanteras is one of the days of the Diwali festival.

• Dhanteras is the first day of the five days long festival of Diwali. Dhanteras is the day also known as Dhantrayodashi.

• On this day, Goddess Lakshmi came out of the ocean during the churning of the milky sea.

• Lord Lakshmi and Lord Kubera who is the God of wealth are worshipped on this auspicious day of Trayodashi. After two days of Dhantrayodashi is considered as Diwali.

• Mostly, Hindus don't eat non-vegetarian on this day dhanteras. But, it depends on individuals.

• On this day, sweets like phirni, kheer, halwa are prepared by Hindu families.
