Difference between Absorption and Adsorption :

Absorption :

  • When the molecules are present in the bulk of the substance then it is called Absorption .
  • It is a bulk phenomenon .
  • Concentration is uniform throughout the mass .
  • Its rate remains constant throughout the process .

Adsorption :

  • Retaining of the molecules only on the surface is known as Adsorption .
  • It is a surface pphenomenon .
  • Concentration is more on the surface than in the liquid .
  • It is the fastest in the beginning then it becomes constant .
