Adolescence is the transitional period from childhood to adulthood. The period of adolescence starts at puberty and continues till the age of 18-19. Different kinds of changes take place during this period, in both girls and boys. Some of them are given below:

Adolescence in boys:-

  • The male reproductive organs develops completely. The release of sperms takes place.
  • In male, the larynx increases in size and appears as a protrusion in the throat.This is commonly known as Adam's apple. Individuals develops a deep voice.
  • Boys also develop face hairs and chest hairs.
  • The shoulders broadens and the chest becomes wider.

Adolescence in girls:-

  • The female reproductive system develops completely and the production of ovum takes place.
  • Females develop a high pitched voice.
  • In females, the waist broadens.
  • In girls, the female gamete begins to mature and are released by the ovary. this process is called ovulation.
  • When the fertilization does not takes place, the ovum is shed of the body along with blood vessels and thickened lining of uterus. This process is called menstruation.
