Alluvium is a deposit of clay ,silt and sand together with some gravel left by a flowing river .

Alluvial soils are always fertile as they contain phosphorus and amonia minerals from the original rocks the comes from

Inland alluvium is coarse grained because they have not undergone full intrrgration .by the time sand and gravel travel to the coastal plains they are fine hence coastal alluvium is fine grained

Another difference comes in the difference in their colour ;coastal alluvium is dark in colour as it has mixed up with black soil and other soils along the way

Inland alluvium is greysh mostly still retaining the colour of the original rock
