Velocity

The velocity of an object is the rate of change of its position with respect to a frame of reference, and is a function of time. Velocity is equivalent to a specification of an object's speed and direction of motion.

The formula for velocity is change in displacement divided by change in time.

Speed

Speed is the distance traveled per unit of time. It is how fast an object is moving. Speed is the scalar quantity that is the magnitude of the velocity vector. It doesn't have a direction. Higher speed means an object is moving faster.

The formula for speed is change in distance divided by change in time.
