The umbra is a central cone of darkness which tapers away from the earth or moon, while the penumbra is an outer cone of partial shadow which diverges instead of tapering

Hey mate..
::::::::::::::::::::

Your question :--
==============

Give the differences between umbra and penumbra ?

My answer:--
===========

Umbra:---
:::::::::::::::::

The umbra of a shadow is the center part of the shadow or the darkest part of the shadow.

It is the point where total eclipses can be seen.

Penumbra:--
:::::::::::::::::::::

The penumbra is an extended part of the shadow that is slightly lighter than the umbra.

It is the point where partial eclipses can be seen.
