- Velocity is defined as the rate of change of displacement.
- V = (Displacement) / (Time taken for that displacement)
- It is a vector quantity. Thus, velocity gives us information on the speed and direction of the moving body. In fact speed is the magnitude of velocity.
- For Example: A truck is moving at a 70 km per hour towards the North describes velocity of the truck.

Velocity formula = displacement ÷ time
Displacement = final position – initial position or change in position
Time = taken to cover the distance.
