Answer:

Function:-

Golgi acts to process and package the macromolecules such as proteins and lipids that are synthesized by the cell. It has been likened to the cell's post office.

Explanation:

Diagram:-

You can see the diagram from the following downside diagram.

FUNCTIONS OF GOLGI;-

  • Modifies proteins and lipids.
  • Process materials to be removed from the cell.
  • Make and secrete mucus.
  • Packages products into vesicles for transport.

Golgi Body

  • The Golgi body is typically comprised of a series of five to eight cup-shaped, membrane-covered sacs called cisternae.
  • In the plants they are called Dictyosomes
  • Cisternae is a flattened membrane disk-shaped, stacked pouches that make up the Golgi apparatus.
  • A Golgi stack may contain anywhere from three to twenty cisternae but generally, contains about six.
  • However, in some unicellular flagellates,  as many as 60 cisternae have been heard to combine to make up the Golgi apparatus.

Functions of Golgi Apparatus

  • They secrete, packages, and dispatches the cellular secretions.
  • They are helpful in the formation of cell membranes.
  • The Golgi apparatus is involved in processing the broad range of cellular constituents that travel along the secretory pathway.( as Dictyosomes )
  • They modify lipids and proteins
  • They modify, package, and dispatch secretions
  • They secrete mucous
