Threre are many marine islands that are actually peaks of sea mountains. These are mountains which rise from the ocean floor but do not reach the sea level. Seamountsare generally extinct volcanoes which rise abruplty from the ocean bed.

The ocean floor is the land beneath the ocean. It contains diverse submerged landforms. There are several submerged hills and mountains on the ocean bed. They comprise of various hills of various sizes. The peaks of some of these mountains come above the sea level. These are known as marine islands.

◾Ex: Iceland, Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
