Hey!!

♠ Sequence of events from the origin of a cell to its growth and the division of cell into two daughter cells is known as cell cycle.

  • ♠ Basically cell cycle involves two phases :-

1) Inter phase ( or growth phase )

2) M phase

  • ♠ Further Inter phase involves three phases :-

1) G1 phase / Gap 1

2) S phase / synthesis of DNA

3) G2 phase / Gap 2

♠ Basically in Inter phase a cell prepares itself for cell division. It doubles its DNA and contents so that the daughter cells have proper genome / contents to start a new life.

♠ In M - phase actual cell division takes place. It involves :- 1) cytokinesis

2) karyokinesis

Note :- CDK /cyclin dependant kinase and Cyclin are important molecules which control the cell cycle.

#Cytology portion is very important for NEET / AIIMS / JIPMER!!
