Law of Combination of Resistance in Series states that the resultant resistance of the resistors connected in series is the Sum of Their  individual Resistance.

Resultant = R1 + R2 + R3 +....

Laws of Combination of Resistances connected in parallel states that the Resultant Resistance of the Resistors connected in parallel is the Sum of The Reciprocals of their individual Resistances.

      1       =  1   +  1  +   1   +......

Explanation:

  • The law of combination of resistances in series states that the sums of individual resistances are equal to the number of resistances which are connected in series when they are combined together.
  • It means the current flowing through the each resistor is same.
  • So let us consider resistors R1, R2, R3 and R4 are connected in series.
  • Therefore, according to the law of combination of resistances is series, the resultant resistance,  \text {RResultant}=R 1+R 2+R 3+R 4
