Explanation:

In nature every organism need energy for their survival. Energy is available in the form of natural elements like air, water, soil, light etc. So the energy from these natural resources reach to the living organisms. Among all the organisms Green plants harvest the energy from the sun and synthesizes food through photosynthesis. Hence they are called producers, first trophic level. Later the consumers like herbivores depend on the producers for food, second trophic level and carnivores finally feed on herbivores the third trophic level. Thus the interaction between the organisms for the transfer of energy is called food chain.
