pistiedon is a the god of sea
Poseidon
He is the god of the seas so salty water has to be mentioned. He promised spring of salty water to the then-unnamed city-state for their citizens, hoping to become their patron (they chose Athena though, hence the city-state was named after her, if not we would have a city-state named Poseidaonas, Poseides, or something like that.)
He also loves horses. He created the first horse. He takes horses and gives horses. He even mated with a goddess in the form of a mare with himself in the form of a stallion.
He sometimes gives bulls, but the certain time he gave a bull, this led to a disaster and cost Athens a lot of young men and young women every year. Somehow, his demigod son helped the Athenians resolve this disaster.
