order of stability NO-<NO<NO+

1) The stability of ion is directly proportional to its bond order.

2) NO+ has 10 electrons (8 bonding, 2 antibonding)

  Bond order = 3

NO has 11 electrons (8 bonding, 3 antibonding)

  Bond order = 2.5

NO- has 12 electrons (8 bonding, 4 antibonding)

  Bond order = 2

The number of bonding and antibonding electrons can be calculated by making the Molecular Orbital Theory diagram

3) So the increasing order of bond orders is  NO-<NO<NO+

and hence the order of stability is also NO-<NO<NO+
