Elections are often conducted before actual time and these makes some difference between such elections. There are generally three types of election methods:
1. General Election
These are the regular elections which are held when the office term of the present government ends.

2. Mid-Term Elections
These are the elections which are held before the general term of the government when the legislature dissolves for any or various reasons.

3. By-Elections
When a member of legislature dies or resigns for certain reasons then to fill the vacancy in such cases then elections are held.
