POSTULATES OF BOHR'S ATOMIC MODEL
1. Electrons revolve around the nucleus in the fixed energy states called orbits, shells or energy levels.
2. Each electron is associated with certain fixed quantity of energy depending upon the energy level to which it belongs. The energy levels are named as K ,L,M ,N.....or 1,2,3,4..... starting from the nucleus .
3. Electrons do jot lose or gain energy continuesly but discontinuously in the form of packets.
4. Electrons looses energy only when it jumps from higher level to lower level and gains energy only when it jumps from lower level to higher level.
The loss or gain of energy = the difference between energies of different energy level concerned .
4. The only permitted orbit for electron revolution are those for which angular momentum (mvr) is whole number multiple of h / 2π i.e. mvr =nh/2π
where n =1,2,3,4...., m and v are mass and velocity , r is the radius of orbit in which electron revolves.
