Answer:

15 passengers have fare of Rs 30.

Explanation:

Let the number of passengers whose fare is Rs 30 be x and whose fare is Rs 100 be y.

According to the question,

x+y=40                                                 ...(i)

30x+100y=2950                                  ...(ii)

Multiplying eq.(i) by 30, we get

30x+30y=1200                                    ...(iii)

30x+100y=2950                                 ...(iv)

Subtracting (iii) from (iv), we get

70y = 1750

=>y=1750/70

=>y=25

Putting y = 25,  in eq.(i), we get

x = 15

So, number of passengers whose fare is Rs 30 = 15 passengers.

Hope it helps......
