C2H5OH + KMnO4 ==> CH3CHO + MnO2 + KOH + H2O
When we add potassium permanganate to etahnol , it gives hydrogen too.

but alkaline potassium permanganate is a strong oxidizing agent so don't you think the product should be ch3cooh?
