1.) Powder is applied to carrom board

• when powder is sprinkled on carrom board it acts as an lubricant and reduces friction and hence helps in smooth movement of the coins.

2.) Oil is applied to moving part of machine

• Oil in applied to the moving part of a machine because when machine works, it generates heat which is due to the friction produced by the machine parts. As we know that friction produces heat, it might damage the machine. So oil is applied to reduce the friction on the machine parts.
