general council is the chief lawyer of legal department. in the company the person holding the position typically report directly to CEO , and theirs duties involve the overseeing the identifying the legal issues in all department and their interrelation, including engineering, design marketing sales distribution credit and finance human resources and production ,as well as corporate governance and business policy. think world naturally require in most cases reporting directly to owners or CEO overseeing the very business on which CLO is expected to familiar with and advise on the most confidential level this requires the CEO/General council to work closely with each of other officers.
