The salient features of Bohr's Atomic Model are as follows-
- Electrons revolve around the nucleus in stable orbits without radiating any energy. These orbits are called as Shells.
- These shells are designated as K,L,M,N.
- When an electron jumps from lower energy level to higher energy level, it absorbs energy.
- When an electron jumps from higher to lower level, it radiates energy.
- This energy is equal to the difference in the energy levels of the two orbits.
LIMITATIONS OF BOHR'S MODEL
- It is unable to explain the Stark Effect wherein the spectral lines get split on presence of an electric field.
- it is a violation of Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle, according to which we cannot know the position and momentum of an object at the same time.
