The small intestine of a lion is shorter in length than that of a deer because of the following reasons:
Lion is a carnivore obtaining nutrients from meat , whereas deer is a herbivore and obtain nutrients (especially cellulose) from plants.
Meat is comparatively easier to digest due to presence of peptidase proteins in the intestine of lion.
So, herbivores (ruminants) have longer intestine (4 chambered) for complete digestion of cellulose obtained from plants.
