consider the given figure ,when the switch S is connected to1 ,then initial energy stored in the capacitor can be given as

=1/2(2microfarad)×V^2

when the switch S is connected to 2, energy dissipated on connection across 8 microfarad will be

 \frac{1}{2} ( \frac{c1c2}{c1 + c2}) \times {v}^{2} \\ \\ = \frac{1}{2} ( \frac{2 \times 8}{2 + 8} ) \times {v}^{2} \\ \\ = \frac{1}{2} (1.6) \times {v}^{2} \\ \\there \: for \: \%loss \: of \: energy \\ = \frac{1.6}{2} \times 100 \\ = 80\%

hope it will help you ☺️
