Extraction of metals in middle of reactivity series
firstly they are pulverised (broken down into small pieces)
then we do benefication or ore dressing by froth flotation method ( generally used for sulphide and carbonate ores).
Then Roasting (heating in excess of oxygen) comes in , by which sulphur is eliminated from the ore and metal oxides remain.
finally we extract the metal from the oxide either by smelting or by thermite process( also known as Aluminothermy)
after that we do electolytic refining of metals.
For metals low in reactivity
we heat them in oxygen to remove sulphur or carbon, and heat them again (without oxygen) to remove oxygen from the oxide.
If you need examples, then refer to Ncert class 10th.
