This energetically driven poem written by Rashtrakavi Kuvempu about the farmers/farming as viewed from the fields. He considers farmer as a yogi-thyagi working in the fields.
He says farming is a a service, that doesn’t expect anything in return, but clearly karma takes care of it all( as you sow so you reap).
He also personifies the farmers as the creator of the creator.
The statesmen, the fingerprints, the soldiers do not sow anything. It is only the farmers who sow. But what they reap is enjoyed even by those soldiers and the statesmen.
The farmers were the survivors of many civilization
The slopy lands of the nilgiris we dug by these farmers in the same force as that of the soldiers in the battlefield(yet they create and don’t destroy!!)
The ending note at its best:
The Karma is in their nails
Their religion is on all our plates
Ulluva yogi(the farmer) is at our sight
Information: This poem was declared as Farmer’s anthem by the Karnataka state government in the year 1996. And truly anyone who reads the poem with its understanding will surely be inspired to do farming in his life
