Osmosis helps in exchange of water in unicellular organisms and plants.

In plants, roots are in contact with water present inside soil. SInce concentration of water is less in the roots as compared to soil, osmosis takes place and water enters the roots to eliminate the difference.

The same process also occurs in unicellular organisms.

Osmosis is a process in which water moves from a region of higher concentration to a region of lower concentration through a semi-permeable membrane. This helps organisms to gain water due to the absence of hands.
