Ans) i) 2x + 40° + x + 20° = 180° ..... (angle in linear pair)

3x + 60° = 180°

3x = 180° - 60°

3x = 120°

x = 120° ÷ 3

x = 40°.

Answer ❶ :

›»› The value of x is 40.

Given :

  • 2x + 40°
  • x + 20°

To Find :

  • The value of x.

Solution :

As we know that

The sum of the angles in a linear pair is 180°

→ (2x + 40) + (x + 20) = 180

→ 2x + 40 + x + 20 = 180

→ 2x + x + 40 + 20 = 180

→ 3x + 40 + 20 = 180

→ 3x + 60 = 180

→ 3x = 180 - 60

→ 3x = 120

x = 40

Hence, the value of x is 40.

Answer ❷ :

›»› The value of x is 82.5.

Given :

  • x + 15°
  • x

To Find :

  • The value of x.

Solution :

As we know that

The sum of the angles in a linear pair is 180°

→ (x + 15) + (x) = 180

→ x + 15 + x = 180

→ x + x + 15 = 180

→ 2x + 15 = 180

→ 2x = 180 - 15

→ 2x = 165

x = 82.5

Hence, the value of x is 82.5.
