Heya !
Differences between metals and non-metals on the basis of their chemical properties.
Metals => 1. Oxides of metal are basic in nature.
2. Metals displace hydrogen from dilute acids.
3. Metals form chlorides which are electrovalent or ionic compounds.
Non-Metals => 1. Oxides of non-metals are acidic in nature.
2. They cannot do so.
3. Non-metals form chlorides which are covalent compounds.
Hope it helps !!!

Metals are electropositive while non metals are electronegative
Metal react with oxygen to make basic oxides while non metal react with oxygen to form acidic oxides
Metals have ionic bond while non metals have covalent bond
Metal acts as reducing agent while non metals act as oxidising agent
Metal react with dillute acids to form salt and evolve hydrogen gas while non metal do not react with dillute acids. they are not capable of replacing hydrogen
