◆ Dimensionless variables-
A dimensionless variable is a unitless value produced by multiplying and dividing combinations of physical variables, parameters, and constants.
◆ Examples-
(a) Pi (π) -
π is the ratio of circumference to diameter. Therefore, it has no dimensions.
(b) Angle -
As angle in radians is ratio of arc to radius, dimensions of length cancel out resulting in dimensionless quantity.
(c) Strain -
As strain is ratio of change in variable divided by same variable, it's also a dimensionless quantity.
