The three examples are:
- Table at rest: A table is at rest because it is in equilibrium. The weight of the table is equal and opposite to the normal force applied by the floor on the table.
- Books on a table: Books kept on a table experience an upward normal force by the table and the table experience the weight of the book (=mg).
- See-saw: If two children of the same weight sit on a see-saw, the swing remains in equilibrium as shown in the figure.
