The adaptive features of the plants in deserts are as follows -
- They store massive amount of water when it rains.
- Their root system is shallow to absorb water from the surface of soil before it evaporates.
- They have very thick and waxy skin to let them seal moisture and letting it evaporate.
- They breathe through spores in night when it is cooler, and close the spores during hot day time to stop the evaporation of water.
- Have spines in place of leaves to save water.
