Altitude--->when altitude increases then the temperature decrease Shimla is at a high altitude whereas Thiruvananthapuram is at a low altitude. therefore the temperature of Shimla is lower than the temperature of Thiruvananthapuram

Shimla gets slanted rays of Sun whereas Thiruvananthapuram gets almost straights rays of sun therefore the temperature of Shimla is less than that of Thiruvananthapuram.

sea influence

Thiruvananthapuram is near sea so sea creates a moderating effect on its temperature but Shimla is far away from sea therefore sea cannot create any moderating effect on its temperature therefore the temperature of Thiruvananthapuram is much higher than Shimla
