Every society resists change but will eventually seek to incorporate those changes. It resists change by the institution of new laws and practices; by not letting foreigners into themselves; by carefully regulating the locations and number of foreigners within itself.
Every society ceases to exist at some point. It is conquered by a different society. It imitates another society—a kind of mental conquering. After all, it exists within time, and will eventually pass out of existence, as with any temporal thing.
The three reasons mentioned seem to exist in some textbook, with which I am not familiar.
