Friction is not desirable in moving parts of engines of vehicles. Even with radiator full of cold water the engine can overheat and slow down its travel. The driver is forced to stop and restthe vehicle.
It is also not desirable when sliding heavy objects up the inclined plane. More force is needed to raise the load to a desired height..
