Two conditions necessary for rusting of iron
Iron and steel rust when they come into contact with water and oxygen. Both water and oxygen are needed for rusting to occur. In the experiment below, the nail does not rust when air or water is not present. Remember that 21 per cent of the air is oxygen.

The condition necessary for rusting of iron to take place are :-
✅1.) The iron article should be kept in the presence of moist air containing oxygen.
✅2.) The iron article should not be galvanised, i.e., no coating of zinc should be there.
✅3.) The iron article should not be painted.
✅4.) The iron article should not be coated by grease or any other substance which does not allow the contact of iron article with moist air and oxygen.
✅5.) The iron article should not be electroplated.
