Balanced force examples
- When you push a wall with a force, neither you nor the wall moves. The wall applies an equal amount of force in the opposite direction. This is an example of balanced force.
- A person standing on the floor. There are two forces acting upon the person. The force of gravity exerts a downward force. The floor exerts an upward force.Since these two forces are of equal magnitude and in opposite directions, they balance each other. The person is at equilibrium
Unbalanced force examples
- Consider a lift going up, what make the lift go up? The lift goes up because of the force of stretching, this is the unbalanced force acting on the lift which is greater than the weight of the body which is acting downwards
- When we kick a football, it is an example of unbalanced force where the force applied by the foot changes the state of rest of the ball.
